One of Hawaii’s easily accessible landmarks, this beautiful
80 feet high waterfall is a must for anyone who loves nature or
waterfalls. As Wailua Falls faces east, the best time to view it
is in the morning when the sun shines directly on it and creates
shimmering cascade of colors in the mist from the falls. As a note
for those over 4o years of age, Wailua Falls were made famous in
the opening scene of the 1970’s ABC hit series Fantasy Island.
While there is a trail to the bottom of the Falls, its not advisable
to venture from the lookout as several tourists have lost their
footing or have fallen/jumped from the Falls and have been seriously
injured or killed.

Take Kuhio Hwy. (56) North from Lihue to Maalo Rd. (also Hwy. 583.)
Wailua Falls is located at the end of Maalo Rd., only a few minutes
from downtown Lihue.
