(Maui)
As Hawaii’s largest, still standing, ancient place of worship,
Pi’ilanihale Heiau dates back to the 14th century and is associated
with Maui’s Pi’ilani dynasty. Because the area was once
overgrown, the site was naturally preserved and kept in excellent
condition. Located in the Kahanu Garden, the stone platform is 340
feet by 415 feet and covers almost three acres.
Directions:
Take Highway 360 east toward Hana. Ulaino Road is off the right
near Mile Market #31. Kahanu Gardens is on the left past the Hana
Caverns.
