(Big Island)
It’s amazing, but the Big Island is home to the third-largest
private ranch in the United States – covering an awesome 175,000
acres. From raising premium cattle to hosting one of the Big Island’s
liveliest Fourth of July Rodeos, Parker Ranch has played a large
role in the island’s development since horses first arrived
in 1803. Today, besides paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) working the
range, the ranch is host to a museum, tours of our historic homes
and horseback rides. Parker Ranch continues to be a vital part of
the Waimea community and it’s worth a visit if you’re
in the area.
