Hiking at Fern Grotto

The Wailua River is the only navigable river in Hawaii. The Fern
Grotto, located about 3 miles from the mouth of the river, is a
naturally created cavern from a steady flow of water above it, resulting
in the growth of ferns on the ceiling of the cave. The Fern Grotto
and the Wailua River are very beautiful, and the grotto is the site
of many Kauai weddings. In addition to the scenery, you will enjoy
the music and banter of the Kauai natives who escort you in the
Smith boat up the river to the grotto. It’s a great Kauai
value attraction.

Last boat departs at 3:30pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
No Reservation needed – just be at the Smith Boat Dock at
Wailua Marina 15 minutes before departure
The Wailua River Cruise is a 1 hr. 20 min., 6-mile round-trip, leisurely
excursion
