(Oahu)
On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese Imperial Navy attacked the United
States of America in a surprise attack. Most of the U.S. seventh
fleet ships stationed at Pearl Harbor on that date were damaged
or sunk. On that day 2,390 lives were lost, half of them on the
USS Arizona. The national memorial is designed to encourage quiet
contemplation, and to appeal to our memory and sense of sacrifice.
Try to get to the Memorial in the morning as the wait can be from
30-90 minutes, but the experience is worth the wait!
